Re: Tips On Squid Fishing?
Take a few different colored jigs with you to cover all options as certain colours work better on some days. If your fishing fast flowing areas you will need a larger size jig such as 3.5 or 4.
Also if your not keen on working jigs use squid spikes baited with silver whiting under a float.

Use braid n mono leader,8ft rod.
Take about ten jigs or more,,,
Each time u put a different jig on ,drop it over side of pier n count how long it takes to reach bottom...

Re: Tips On Squid Fishing?
You will not catch a squid unless you have at least 48,071 different colours of Yamashita, Harimitsu, Sephia, Gan Craft and Yo Zuri squid jigs. Different colours work better at different times of day so it is ultra important to have the right colour and action for the exact time of day that you are casting.

Re: Tips On Squid Fishing?
Maximise your chances
1: fish where you see ink stains
2: fish clear water
3: fish sunrise and sunset
Cover ground - move up and down the pier
Change retrieve style - eg aggressive jerks and soft jerk retrieves. Let it sit on the bottom for a few secs sometimes
Change jigs - in particular different sizes. If there are just small squid around they may be too timid to take a big jig
Have a few expensive jigs - they do work better when the goings tough
If the above fails - your probably in the wrong place - move on
