Got Caught Out

Post by denis barden » Sun Jan 21, 2018 10:36 am

Hit the water at 0315 this mornin ,about 10 knot S good wind as the tide was coming in at St Leonards
Wind changes to E dont like it just then collected 5 Pinkies to about 31-Pitch black and in no time its blowing heaps.
Decided to head in or Surf in 4.2 m boat
Got to Ramp -Lucky it was hi tide, had to get a few guys to help get in,
Stayed there for about an hour helping others in
Willie said 34 knots but thats 17 klm away seemed stronger to me than that

We got caught out too mate, off hastings. Anchored about 5:30am, within 10 minutes its blowing its guts out. Was a long 7km trip back to Yaringa. Had one wave so big it crashed over the windscreen of the boat lol.

Pretty much the same story as Scraglor..
Launched at Stony a shade after 5, light breeze, made it as far as Observation point, and it was 35knots. Turned around, yomped back to Stony. Watched the anchor well go into a wave at one point just out from Stony..Pretty mad conditions

Quite a few boats did go out from flinders. But they were all waiting it out near the pier before going out in numbers.
Seen a few console boats head out too. Big balls or stupidity. Hopefully they are all back and well..

That would have woken you up.
Does anyone know how the boat capsized off Frankston last week?
