I've had a lot more luck personally. Bigger and better flathead (managed a few duskies which was surprising), was easy to get bait fish (schools of small salmon basically jumping in the boat) plus one armed bandits etc. also managed a hammerhead last time I went there. I reckon it's one of the most underrated fisheries in Victoria. The Water is pristine there.frozenpod wrote:Why is that?Kimtown wrote:I prefer Albert to Welshpool personally.

Fair enough just keep in mind they are all part of the same water way and at high tide you can travel between them.Kimtown wrote:I've had a lot more luck personally. Port Welspool seems to have more boat traffic probably because it is closer to Melbourne which is certainly a Pro IMO for Port Albert.
PS We catch a few duskies in the inlet and around the prom as well.

Yeah i know it's essentially the same waterway, as is mcloughlins.. I dont know why but Albert to me seems like it's clearer cleaner water, where as welshpool has the muddier/mangrovey type water like around the north west corner inlet/toora type areafrozenpod wrote:Fair enough just keep in mind they are all part of the same water way and at high tide you can travel between them.Kimtown wrote:I've had a lot more luck personally. Both have their perks and flaws, I've had more luck at Albert personally

Correct.
I love the entre area and have been fishing there for close to 30 years.

I'd put my vote in as Welshpool. Great area. I'll possibly be heading there this weekend for a fish hopefully
