Organizing a fishing holiday... sort of
Have put in for leave in November and in the early stages of planning a trip for a couple weeks with my GF.
She is open to anywhere thats cheap and she can get a tan, which bodes well for me as I can sneakily pick a destination with great sport fishing :a_goodjob:
I've done Thailand and Bali before and went on a fishing charter in both. Thailand we trolled for game fish and were unsuccessful in getting any bill fish or mackerel but we did get a lot of school tuna which was fun. Bali was an absolute joke. The gear was abysmal and the fishing was even worse.. the only few gold fish size fish we landed were kept by the Balinese crew, which was disgusting. No wonder the fishery is so bad but I guess they gotta do what they gotta do to eat. But will likely avoid them countries anyhow, had enough of asian 3rd world.
My initial thoughts are a tropical island in the coral sea.. perhaps Vanuatu or Fiji. Both are obviously really beautiful tourist destinations as is, I've been to Vanuatu once when I was a kid and absolutely loved it although didn't fish. I've heard both are great sport fishing destinations with big GT everywhere there. Both are amazing snorkeling places too which I also love to do.
Anyway, has anyone ever fished overseas in any tropical climates and if so I am open to suggestions on different destinations. Just googling these exotic places has me excited lol

A bloke at work literally just suggested that to me. Only problem is the local currency goes by the NZ dollar I believe which makes it a little more expensive than say Fiji. Not a huge problem but I have a gigantic mortgage so a budget-esque holiday would be better for meMattblack wrote:Cook Islands

Vanuatu is fantastic, but I found it pretty dear, and prices in town are jacked up daily when the cruise ships come round.. the fishing is simply out of this world though

Vanuatu sounds like it might be the go. I'd love to go back.

Believe in Vanuatu and Fiji on a lot of charters the catch goes to the local villagers. If you want to keep any fish it’s extra.
What about NW WA
