Boat troubles - anyone want a deckie nxt 4 weeks?

Post by STriplett1997 » Fri May 04, 2018 3:12 pm

So... the last month i've been having a leak issue. Had it checked out, then went out again and it was fine. Then went to go out again and when i arrived at the Marina, where my boat was waiting for me in the water, it was filled with water. Long in the short of it, had it checked up again. Turns out the Transom is completely ******. Bad job on the previous owners part. Big crack at the back next to the motor which went all the way down to the bottom. Had the onsite fibreglasser/boat repair have a look, and yup needs to be completely replaced, as well as the floor (which at least he isn't charging me for.) Rather expensive job, so not happy at all. Guess this is what comes with taking a punt on a second hand boat with limited experience and no one of experience to take with me. He told me he put the tiniest bit of pressure on the transom and it even started cracking more. Rotten wood as well.

More to the point of this post.. a month is far too long for me to not be out there.. lmao, if any one would like or need a second bloke on board give me a message, im flexible with times and can do most days. Don't mind what species the focus will be on.

Cheers fellas

No good about the boat mate. Safe to say you won’t get stitched up like that next time. Unfortunately you had to learn the hard way! Probably not much good to you being a long way away but if I’m heading off lakes Entrance I’d probably have a seat for you. Probly start chasing pinkies in a couple of weeks.

I haven’t been down there since I was a kid, great memories of chasing big bream, flatties and tailor from the tambo river to lake tyres. Would actually love to come but it’s a bit far for me at the moment I think. I appreciate it though.

That sucks dude.
Is it going to be in good Nick after thats fixed. Always a gamble with second hand boats. And cars for that matter.
Hope your back on the water soon.
