Best Friends holiday resort
Just back from 4 days at the above resort. Great set up, to take your fur babies away with you.
A present from our kids for our birthdays. I'll be 65 next year on the 25th of May, I expect you all to remember and send me a card (cash is accepted graciously)
Beautiful sunny days, although it didn't get into double figures
Lovely nights that you needed 3 camp fires to keep warm.
The resort is in the Tarra Valley, just out of Yarram & just below Tarra Bulga Nat. Park
Across the road is the Tarra river. In most places it was only 6" deep.
I used a 3 piece travel rod, 4lb mono & unweighted worms.
The result was the usual doughnut, but having 2 dogs playing in the icy water didn't help.
Sighted during the fishing were lyrebirds, wallabies, wombat, platypus & a huge Cray.
Although the river bed is rocky, there is also black stinking sticky mud.
My dogs & boots needed cleaning daily. (Free hydrobath for the dogs)
Resort has large fenced play areas for your dogs, it's a really good set up
Cheers Gra

It is a lovely area. Even though the river is shallow, the larger pools hold a fair few small trout. The crays are(or were) in great numbers when I used to live down that way, you could walk river banks and site 30+ in a cpl of hours, though we never saw anything huge.
Only 2 or 3 weeks ago, they had a light dusting of snow, just up the road, so you were probably unlucky in a way, the place is very photogenic, but even more so when it snows.
Might go back down when it warms up a bit in Spring lol

Happy birthday Gra, I’m glad you enjoyed your time away, cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Re: Best Friends holiday resort
Thanks heaps fella's
Spent yesterday morning with Barmah Pete pulling apart some decking (paid job).
Only finished 2 thirds and had to go back today to finish (6x3 metres)
Struts were 18 inches apart and dynabolted to concrete
Ever decking plank had 2 nails (screw type) & a 3 inch screw into every bearer (very overkill)
Pete will get $200 & the bloke gave us a slab of VB as well
Had an enjoyable day & can still feel it
Cheers Gra
