Where to catch prawns in Victoria ? Need tips and advice

Post by SilentChef187 » Tue Jun 19, 2018 3:41 pm

Hi guys , I’m planning on going prawn catching after next week I’ve never caught prawns before so I’ve got a few questions for the more experienced members on the forum

- Where to catch prawns ?

- how to catch prawns ? I know we need a net but do we need a boat or can we walk in the water and catch them ?

- is it the prawn season?

-is it safe if your catching prawns on foot?

Thanks to everyone willing to help

Usually around Christmas and Easter. Check the markets, when you start seeing lakes entrance prawns for sale then it's time

+1. Woolworths or Coles, fresh from the Deli. One of the best baits you can get, whatever you don't use take home and fry in garlic butter.

Very good bait for gummies however keep in mind depi are urging anglers not to use prawns as bait to try to reduce the risk of spreading white spot disease, though it is not illegal to be using them

Mantis shrimp is a great alternative for gummies when fishing muddy bank areas
