Salmon

Post by Goosfraba » Mon Jul 30, 2018 1:27 am

Hi, im thinking of targeting some salmon off the beach.
Ive never targeted salmon before so where is a good place to start? Ive heard shiny metal lures work well.
Also, is salmon a seasonal fish or can i go whenever?
Thanks

Now is a great time to be targeting some salmons off the beach mate.
Been some reports lately on here of some good fish coming from gunnamatta beach. You could also try kilcunda and woolamai.
Metal lures work great

Gunnamatta is a bit far for me, is there such thing as piers produce better fish or the beach? Shouldn't most places produce salmon?

Yea I just find that the size of the salmons I catch from the surf are usually bigger. Not always the case though. If your after bay trout size ones then most places produce :)

My goto spot is Kilcunda, tressle bridge car park or further up. Had success on metals and pilchard pieces on surf poppers. Seems to be a bit more action 1hr before high tide. Bugger all when it’s going out. Good luck !

I have also had luck at Williamson’s beach a bit further down.
Have caught some thumpers there and had plenty of great sessions down at Venus bay as well :)
