East gippsland estuaries and lakes

Post by Kimtown » Mon Jul 30, 2018 9:36 am

What's the chances of any of the lakes and estuaries opening this year? The reason I ask is because I visited a few different ones in March and the fishing was kind of slow and the prawning was almost non-existant, in which I had later found out the entrances hadn't opened in well over a year at that point. It's now basically August and reports are that east gippy is in quite a bit of a drought, even driving through the other day it looks baron compared to here in west gippsland. The farmers need some rain and the waterways need a good dose of salinity in the water...

I'm planning to go back to tamboon around new years time so HOPEFULLY by then the entrance will open, but it's looking unlikely.

Bemm is open and fishing well atm.
I'm not sure about the others.
If I had time I'd be at bemm now.

Like Steve said there are plenty of good reports coming from Bemm at the moment but it still fishes well even when the entrance is closed you just have to work harder for the fish.
