Re: Seasickness
Interesting. Mr Google led me to a forum about cruising and a few people that appear to be in the know - being former Navy personnel - say it's a mind thing, i.e., if you think you are going to get seasick before you even board the vessel, it is almost certain that you would. However, after going through that harrowing experience, it's hard to keep it out of my mind... Maybe I should try Vicks on my belly button too  :rofl:Hosery wrote:I take a big iced coffee every morning I head out. Sip on it to the ramp and finish it off once out there. Mates recon I'm mad for drinking milk. Thank god I don't get sick and havnt ever even felt crook.
A mate of mine who always comes out with me has tried kwells, travel calm etc and don't really work he still gets sick. Than someone told him Vicks in your belly button will solve it. Think they were taking him for a ride. Anyways he gave it a go and worked for him. Didn't even spew once for a number of trips. That was until I told him that's it's to do with your inner ear and nothing to do with the Vicks it was just placebo. He now spews again without fail no matter what.
So I guess if it's in your head your going to be sick your already starting off on the wrong foot.

I lived on an island for 18 years prior to moving to the mother of all islands..
I've had to catch a ferry every day for that duration .
It's not a mind thing..and believe me I've seen it a lot.
I can tell you one thing though. Seeing someone else chuck can make even people who dont get seasick start to chuck...

Re: Seasickness
I knew a bloke that was never seasick, until he went on heart medication
I've never had a problem myself, even in the roughest of seas.
That being said, I have not be out since going on medication
Worst time was with a blue line boat that wouldn't start and a storm came in.
We were at 90° to the water at times. Couldn't get the anchor to grab & oars were useless
They finally came out and started the boat. On the way in waves were breaking over the 1/2 cabin. Rear tiller is a ***** in these circumstances
