Vic elections

Post by ango » Sun Nov 25, 2018 10:19 am

Hi All,
Looks like a good result for fishers in the Vic elections. I am looking forwards to no boat ramp fees, better fishing in the Gippsland Lakes in a few years when netting ceases. I intend to spend more time down there to get away from the crowds in PPB & Westernport. As a bonus, the greens got slammed by other minor parties rorting the preference system.
Cheers
Ango.

I don’t agree it’s a good result for anglers, Labor is responsible for AGL’s plans for WP, if that goes through (and it probably will now) who knows what the effect will be on the weaternport biosphere, and the towns in that area

Yep. And anyone who believes the closure of nets in Gippsland lakes will increase the fishing is delusional beyond belief.

The only good thing from the election is the greens getting reamed without lube. The rest was and always will be much of a muchness with either party to be honest

I'll believe these promises from politicians to fishos when I see them. I'm not holding my breath. They won't have been "core promises" I bet.

Nah, they're still out there. They had a fairly small swing against them, and if you lump them together with the animal justice party (who I assume are roughly the same type of people) their % of the vote is almost unchanged.

Their **** result as far as seats goes is more likely to be because of the preference deals done by micro parties - for example some anti-Uber lobby that got 0.3% of the vote looks like it might pick up two seats in the upper house, by contrast the Nationals (5%) and the Greens (10%) might only get one seat each.
