Can someone explain hook size?

what hook size is perfect for carp, snapper, whiting, flat head, gammy, trout and other fish in Victoria :fish22:

Pinkies I usually use like a size 1/0 or 2/0... big snapper season I use double 4/0 gamagatsu. Whitings I have had great success with a size 6 long shank and a 1/0 circle K/l. Flatties have a huge mouth so caught them on all different size hooks.

Mate you need to invest in a fishing book and go fishing with other people. Find a fishing mentor- someone who can show you how.

This is the best way to learn.

At least initially, the bait determines the size of the hook I use. If I'm using corn or maggots, I use size 10 or 12 (even 14); Mudeyes or small worms, I use 8 or 10; Scrub worms, I use 6 or 4 (2 for the really big ones); for a big old yabby I'll use a 2 or a 1.
