The first fish I caught in Melbourne was a micro pinky off that pier on a bit of chicken bout 5 years ago.
I caught a tram to the city from la Trobe in Bundoora, thinking that I’d reached the CBD when I saw the skyline at Northcote.
Walked into the CA at flinders lane. Bought some bait and a handbook, figured out what a myki card looks like in between all this and that micro pinky meant a lot more to me than a lot of other first do to this day 😂
Sounds like a very memorable trip.

I caught my first pinkie on the next pier, lagoon pier.
Took 109 tram til the end (port melb) using metcard! and walked to the pier. Same, on small piece of chicken. Cheap rod reel combo bought at aussie disposals.

We used to catch heaps of bream there in summer especially on the right half way up early mornings around high tide with bass yabbies for bait but haven't fished it for many years
Was also good for big snapper when strong onshore wind

Didnt see that bit. Just drove past quickly and saw someone towards the end who looked like he was fishing. Will have another look soon.
Cheers :)

Just an update.
I drove past the pier on Thursday and looks like they were working on the platform on the top right hand side.
