Boat windscreen

Post by fishnut » Sat May 25, 2019 9:32 am

I have a few scuff marks on the curved part of the clear plastic
Is there any way to polish them out, any advice would be appreciated

Yes depending how deep they are. You can use brasso or purchase acrylic plastic polish. That will only get rid of light scratches if they are deep wet and dry, at work we have it in kits up to 8000 to polish windscreens. Remember it will depending on the depth, distort your vision when you look through it.

Ditto on what Nude up says.

Might pay to start off with a very very fine wet & dry (with water), to gauge what scratches are left after sanding. A bit of a double up, but it would give you an idea of what and how much needs to be done.

Only addition I would add is to place the wet & dry sand paper on a soft block so as to hug the curvature. AND try not to focus all the sanding on one spot as it would leave a low point which would distort vision. Keep in mind if you don't buff it well, you are also going to be left with a slight "hazy" look to the clear acrylic

Good luck, would like to hear how you get on

Cheers, Bugatti
