I've got one, 7ft shimano eclipse. it is suprisingly strong and durable given its a telescoping rod, i use it to bait fish and it handles itself nicely. only issue is that if you don't store it properly the tip can fall out and it's a bit of a hassle securing it back in. it's good for traveling purposes but i much prefer a normal 2 piece rod as my go to. travel rods are another viable option but tend to be a bit more pricey but are probably stronger. also, if you want a telescopic one get it from a reputable brand because the cheap ones from ebay are trash and fall apart in minutes.

Just get a 3-5 piece rod. They're more durable than a telescopic

How often are you going to be using this rod mate?
I’d also probably get a 3-5 piece rod myself :)

I would go a 3 peice rod
Just greener you can catch a big fish on a small rod Just a matter of working the fish closer. But have more issues lifting up peir etc

Issues with telescopic rod (especially the cheapo),
Hollow inside (not strong),
The ring guide is often only glued with cheap stuff, sliding it in and out and the rings often fall off.
I've seen a good one at Armadale Angling ages ago around $100 by Daiwa, doesn't exist anymore.

3-4 piece travel rod is much better, much more popular.

Yea I had the same problem with the rings coming off easily. Better off paying a bit more and getting something half decent that will last in my opinion.
