Your favorite season to fish and why?
Hi All,
I would say my favorite season to fish is Autumn although I do get out right through the year.. I like the cooler weather and generally it is a good time to get trout and redfin. (OK this season was an exception for me wacko ) They say it is a good time for Murray cod as well but yes, i'm not that well versed with them. So what is you favorite season to hit the water?
thanks
Jim

from now through winter is great gummy weather in the shallow waters around the top of westerpoert
and of cause large winter whiting at the sth end of the port
less boats around and for the DH ( part time )boat opperators are off the water saving them selfs for red carp season
and if the weather isn't good enough to kayak the surf beaches have salmon and gummies
at the end of winter and the coming on of spring is large squid season and great gummy weather
with the warming water the first of the red carp and more winter large whiting
last of spring and early summer is some great fishing but the DH ( part timers ) are out for red carp season and about this makes PPB almost a no go zone
this is a great time to chase gummys and the eagle rays and big flat rays come around with the warmer water
red carp come on as by catch while gummy fishing
and the school whithing also fire up
late summer is a great time to fish for gummies however the long nose bait steelers ( elephant fish ) do become a bit of a nusance
and the school whiting seam to be a bit smaller
I think the season from the first on jan till the end of dec works for me

Ten years ago I would have said all seasons, but now, after a broken neck and back problems, Arthritis is a killer in the cold. Summer, Autumn is the best now, although I still do fish in the colder seasons, just not as much, cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Winter for me. Heres why -
- Less People
- I love relaxing with warm clothes and a hot drink
Summer does tend to produce a bigger range of fish though.
