Left Handed Fishos...
After reading the "Fishing Game Post" earlier, I'm wondering how many left-handed fishos are on FVF?
Am I the only one? :???:
Even though 99.99% of everything in the market is designed for right handed, as long as I can switch the handle of my reel to the other side, I'm fine, but it's not fair

Cast right, wind right except when fly fishing!

X 2, have tried several times to wind with the left, but it always feels awkward.GTSHoon wrote:Cast right, wind right except when fly fishing!

I think you can move the reeling arm from right to left for most of the reels, isn't it?

Re: Left Handed Fishos...
I'm right handed so naturally I do everything with my right hand. So I grew up always fishing right handed, ie. cast and reel with my right hand. Since I've started doing some soft plastics fishing though I decided to try reeling with my left hand. Casting right handed then switching your grip to reel right handed just felt a bit clumsy. At first, reeling left handed did feel quite awkward but it honestly didn't take long to get used to it and it now feels very natural.poodoo wrote:X 2, have tried several times to wind with the left, but it always feels awkward.GTSHoon wrote:Cast right, wind right except when fly fishing!

I always cast right handed, reel left handed for lure fishing, reel right handed for bait fishing.

Re: Left Handed Fishos...
right handed here but I taught my self to cast with right hand and retrieve with the left. It felt awkward at first but now I hate retrieving using my right hand. Now I don't have to transfer the rod from one hand to another. Cast, retrieve, cast retrieve... If I snag a big one, I am using my strong hand (right) to fight the fish. I also glued the handle cap on the right side of my reels semi-permanently. Now, no one wants to borrow my reels. When bait fishing, no one wants to help reel in my catch which is good. They grab the rod and wait for me to come and reel in the fish
OF ALL THE THINGS I LOST, I MISS MY MIND THE MOST.

I'm left handed and all my egg beater reels are rigged for left hand reel, but just in the last 6 months I have started using overhead reels more often, and have become quite comfortable using a right hand reel overhead reel, so yeah I use both

Re: Left Handed Fishos...
I am right handed and I was taught, cast with my right reel with my left when using an eggbeater, so when using a spinning lure you cast and start the retrieve in one motion no changing hands but all my overheads have the handle on the right but I seldom cast them ie bottom bashing deep water and game fishing
