Surf Trip / Reeves Beach / June 13th, 14th & 15th.

Post by SFP Guy. » Mon Apr 14, 2014 5:57 pm

G'day guys!

OK, looks like I won't be able to please everyone with regards to dates for the trip so I've penciled in the weekend of the Friday the 13th, Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15th of June.

Sorry if some guys can't make it but there's always going to be someone who can't make a specific date for whatever reason and trying to please everyone is just impossible.

Yeah, I know, starting a fishing trip on a Friday the 13th!!! I'll take any flak if we go fishless! I'll be heading down on the Friday morning and get there maybe around noon.

Thanks to Brett for his suggestion of Reeves Beach, looks like a good choice, I've never fished there, so maybe Brett can enlighten us as to what we may be in for.

As with other trips we will camping so it will be BYO everything, Swag, Tent, Swent, Campervan, food, beverages, bait, burley, tackle etc. Hopefully we will get some decent weather but it will be June so you'll need to rug up, especially at night.

I know some guys on the Cod Trip brought along hotplates to cook over the fire (I take it we'll be allowed a campfire at this spot???) so if anyone has one they can bring along please let us know here.

Unfortunately, I've checked with the local council and Cats are not allowed on the beach or any camping grounds unless they are muzzled and in the jaws of a Pit Bull. Sorry, Miffy & Sparkles, I so wanted you to be there!

:dontknow

So if you're more than interested let us know on here, if you have anything you would like to add please feel free.

Hopefully we'll be able to get a few to come along and catch a few fish, have a few drinks and a few more laughs.

Cheers, hope to see you all there.

Cam.

Campfires are allowed(if people can bring some wood, might help, as I'm not sure of wood supply down there), there are also drop pit toilets available to the public(if the need arises). Wind wise the camp area should be fine, also rain the camp area should be fine for access.
Fishing wise, we would be better off without any wind form the NE right round to the SE. That time of yr, there should be salmon, the odd flatty and gummies available, wil also be some unwanted species, namely draughtboard sharks, skates and rays.

Yarram isn't all that far away, so if you do forget anything you can duck in there to get it. Woodside is closer, but is limited to a pub and general store/servo.
Anything else, let me know and I'll suss it out.

For people coming from Melbourne or further north, it would be quicker to go down the princess hwy, loy yang, until you get to Carrajung, then turn left and head to woodside, rather than go down to Yarram and then back out to Woodside. If need be I can get a map marked out for you.

I'll come and play. Assuming I'm in the country anyway. 90 Mile owes me a fish too. And I won't be bringing a Cat.
