Spearfishing

Post by GummySlayer » Tue Apr 09, 2013 7:23 pm

Hey guys,

Taking my little step brother and his mate out spearfishing tomorrow..
New to it so still learning.. Just curious, what happens if you spear a fish that is under it's legal limits?

I know it sounds like a stupid question.. If i were fishing it'd be thrown back, but with the spear if you spear a fish obviously it'll most likely die.. So are you allowed to keep smaller fish that're speared? or do you just leave them there to die? :/

Cheers guys!

Not really my forte but I would suggest you don't spear them unless you know they are well above the limit!

Yeah, that's pretty much common sense, but i mean in the event that it is under size.. Because being younger lads, i've got a feeling they'll spear whatever fish they see.

then you need to make the decision not to take them if there are too immature to do what is right. if they're not ready for it then they're not ready for it.

GS, do not spear that crayfish in martha's backyard.

if you see a toothy mouth wide open and is big enough to swallow you, you must press the trigger. Otherwise, do not shoot anything if unsure. Try bringing a tape measure. Catch the fish by hand, measure it first, if it is of legal size, you can release it and shoot it. If it is undersize, just release it. :lolf: :lolf: :haha2:

Yeah, i know what you can spear and what you're not allowed to spear. But none of you are reading the question.

IF WE SPEAR A FISH THAT'S SMALLER THAN THE RESPECTIVE LIMIT, "IF" DO YOU KEEP IT OR JUST LEAVE IT?

Cheers.
