If it's ABS plastic you can use Lego blocks dissolved in acetone to make a liquid plastic (like liquid electrical tape) that you can use to glue other ABS things back together. Use a bit of acetone on the parts to be joined first to get a better bond. It works and I've had some success with this method but I'm not sure what your xducer is made of. You must use the correct plastics to weld together other plastics or it won't work and some plastics aren't weldable at all (can't remember which ones but many new bumper bars are made from non weldable material according to the plastic welder I visited to get my bumper repaired)

Thanks guys for your Imput. I've checked what I did yesterday and the join is holding firm.the transducer moves up and down the mounting bracket freely .ii seems like the plastic cap has bonded ok.The copper stitching over the join has strenthened the whole join now.cheers gus
