Take them out of the boat if your not going to use them...if you leave them in the side pocket and they get salt spray or water on them and you don't give them a good flush will lead to rusting very quickly

Thats good advice my flying gaff lives in the garage on a rack next to my outriggers it only comes in the boat when chasing sharks. My fixed gaff lives in the boat the head is never the problem but I wipe the handle (anodized aluminum) with wd40 when I wash the boat down.
