Good tackle brands that 'fly under the radar'!
Hi all
We have all witnessed the great Shimano vs Daiwa debate...over and over! :sleepy1: For a change I thought we could discuss some lesser known brands...more so good brands that get very little publicity. I have heard positive comments for the Quantum brand as well as Pflueger. A guess only but I would think the prices of these brands would not be inflated just because of their name. So I would like to know, are there any brands, be it rods / reels / lures / line whatever that you have and is real value for money and good quality...a brand that does not get mentioned too many times!
cheers
Jim

I've got a Gladiator Enforcer spin combo that's never let me down with decent cod, carp, yella's and even pulled in 10lb snapper with it. cheap and can't complain, cheers davo

I've got a pflueger supreme XT . Never had a problem with it through a years worth of spin session several times a week. Lightweight, looking great and 7kg of drag

I don't believe it's an under the rader but I tend to use mostly Penn reels - they are not the smoothest or lightest but there gear holds up well in ugly conditions
Kayak fishing is very hard on reels between the constant spray , splash and sometimes dunking them in salt water
my OHs are earlier model penns with no one way clutchs and no ball bearings - these are the perfect kayak reel simple to clean and overhaul
my spinning reels are Penn slammers again they hold up well to salt and are simple to strip down to clean with they take a full dip
having striped one a week ago after it took a duck dive to the bottom at the beach in South West Rocks
this was a 260 slammer that took about 10 - 15 min to strip clean, lube and reassemble -- almost fool proof to work on
as I said not a brand that flys under the rader but fairly cheap and tough
by the way a new Slammer 260 cost me $ 79 from Dinga.com through Ebay with free delivery ( delivery took 3 days from order )

Good tackle brands that 'fly under the radar'!
Hardbody Lures (bream):
Strike pro
Atomic
Gladiator
Maria
Austackle
River2sea
Soft plastics:
Hooked on plastics
Damiki
All the above have decent lures that catch fish and won't break the bank, but aren't the premium "talked about" brands.
Also decent "no name" blades off ebay from seller evercatch.

Re: Good tackle brands that 'fly under the radar'!
From what I've used pelagic extreme products on eBay have performed very well, also a decent price. I have skull dragged stingrays easily on the 10kg rods, and there reels are tough as, just don't mix them with the cheaper look a like brands.
Here fishy fishy.......
