I had the anti-reverse on a daiwa crossfire give up on me while fighting a decent size silver trev.
Back pedaled my way out of that one.

Also line wrap around the tip of a brand new Daiwa Tournament Surf Masters Rod , saw me holding only 2 out of 3 sections and looking at Gunammatta beach with a broken heart. Got a replacement section for about a $100.

If that's Finns it'll happen on the first couple of big runs a fish takes on heavy drags. Shitty line with excess dies in it.

Does crunching your favourite 12ft luderick rod in an automatic garage door count as gear failing? Not too happy about that right now.

I hear you mate I was trying to see if I could put my spin rods in the car without splitting them so the car was in the driveway with the back seat folded down and the boot lid up. The house phone rang so slammed the boot shut to head into the house not realising that one of my rod tips was protruding 6inches out from the boot. One brand new never used Daiwa Red Back spin rod ruined. :(

Ouch! I feel your pain...kind of reminds me of the time I snapped my rod when I went to close the back of the 4wd and a bit of the end of my rod was hanging out... :(

i snapped the rope on a tackleback this week. No pics obviously. I could feel it through the rod still banging round on the lure it was trying to retrieve. didn't get either one back
