Re: Head Lamp
I use a Led Lenser that was about $150 from a hunting store (after having also gone through my share of lamps). I don't know how many lumens, but it can be either a wide beam or a focussed spot and it has does an amazing job over 24 months in unforgiving and wet conditions. It runs on 4 AAs and chews through them. If I am doing an extended beach session (like a full overnighter) I can use up to 8 batteries all up, but the quality of the build and the safety that comes with the light is worth it (for me).

Re: Head Lamp
Led Lenser have the name, but there are plenty of cheaper options.
For example, I have a couple of these:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/272171243108
I paid about 4 bucks (shipped - Ha Ha!) about 3 years ago. It runs on 3 x aaa and will give about
4 hours of bright light on a 50% duty cycle. I've been rained on, had it covering in fish-slime (I
use it a lot while spotlighting) and have has no issues other than a bit of water getting in the on/off
switch - which I fixed with a dab of sikaflex.
I keep a spare, charged and ready to go, in my backpack, but rarely have to reach for it.
And for under 3 bucks it's a no-brainer really.
I mean to get my hands on a cheap 18650-powered one too, just to compare.
This one looks okay...

Cheers,

I posted this this one last time this topic came up and about 5 blokes ended up buying one. My advice is to get a couple more 18650 batteries because that torch chews through the power, and get a decent charger because the batteries aren't cheap and they'll last a lot longer with a smart charger:

I'd be interested to hear how the others who bought one found it.

Re: Head Lamp
Go for a NiteCore charger - the company has been around for a while and has a good reputation.
I've been using a Nitcore D4 (the model up from the i4, above) for a while and it's been fine...

Re: Head Lamp
I really like it; Big Gav has seen it in action and can vouch for how bright it is. It's extremely bright, but it does use a lot of power so you will need some spare batteries.matt1991 wrote:Can anyone tell me how good these are?4liters wrote:http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/9000LM-CREE- ... SwiYFXGjRK
