They don't look too bad at all. You can't get much for under $3.mingle wrote:Led Lenser have the name, but there are plenty of cheaper options.
For example, I have a couple of these:

I paid about 4 bucks (shipped - Ha Ha!) about 3 years ago. It runs on 3 x aaa and will give about
4 hours of bright light on a 50% duty cycle. I've been rained on, had it covering in fish-slime (I
use it a lot while spotlighting) and have has no issues other than a bit of water getting in the on/off
switch - which I fixed with a dab of sikaflex.
I keep a spare, charged and ready to go, in my backpack, but rarely have to reach for it.
And for under 3 bucks it's a no-brainer really.
I mean to get my hands on a cheap 18650-powered one too, just to compare.
This one looks okay...

I use a Spark SD6-500 headlamp fitted with the optional spot light lens. At Blairgowrie on a still night, it'll pierce the water column making light work (pun intended) of spotting (again) the squid when retrieve the squid jig. They last a solid 3hrs on the high setting constantly on and simple to operate. The complete kit is cheap for what's included:

3 hr isn't very good battery life I can run my led lessor on high for around ten hrs before it starts loosing power, and still get another ten.

Hella make a good head lamp. Nice and bright wide beam. Rechargeable. No buttons to push to turn it on. It has a movement sensor so you just need to wave you hand in front of it and its on. Wave again and its off. Leaving your forehead stink free.

Sounds pretty good mate. How long do the batteries last for before you need to re charge them?Rob1 wrote:Hella make a good head lamp. Nice and bright wide beam. Rechargeable. Re: Head Lamp
I must say though it does have a button to turn on the movement sensor or you can turn the light on with the button but I only use the sensor to avoid the stinky forehead. Then you turn the sensor off with the button when your finished so it doesn't turn on in your tackle box. And yes it does have two light brightness's. http://www.parts2you.com.au/products/he ... w-headlamp Just took a look at the specs. It gets 6 hours on low beam and 3 hours on high beam but I never have it on constantly.
