Hi Guys,

i'm looking to buy a good fishing headlight for fishing off piers. I manly fish for squid so need something bright with a wide beam to see into the water. I'm looking at either a petzel nao or led lenser h14r, but can decide between the two. If anyone has used these before or have any other recommendations it would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Joe

Ive got the lenser H7.2r, cant fault it, the h14 might be a bit of overkill to be honest. Make sure you get the rechargeable version, it chews through the batteries!

I only have a h7. Bought it before the rechargeable ones came out I think. But it does the job nicely. If I was hunting or doing serious night activities Id want a h14

On the subject
Do they make a head mounted flood light? Peeps with head torches will know what I mean. Ever at widest spread I find the h7 can be a touch suss climbing down rocks etc as it doesn't throw the light wide enough. You have to point your head in the area.

A flood light headlamp would be pretty interesting anyway.

These are probably the closest you'll get to a headlamp flood light for under $250 aud. Just have to be careful with the batteries because some cheap 18650 batteries have a reputation for exploding when charged.

I bought one of these the beginning of the year and is tops. It may not be as wide an angle as the Fenix but at $15 I'm surprised at how well it works.
One negative is when you zoom in too much it casts a slight square beam (possibly due to the reflector shape).
I bought a similar one from another supplier a little over 2 years ago for a fair bit more and this one for $15 is actually way better and is water resistant and you can easily detach the straps.
