Hey bug nice grapple . A couple a weeks ago I had to find my old scaler since I went out on the snapper (3 trips) anyway I made it about 20 years ago and it works a treat.
I made it out of I think 307 stainless
Mr Berry, that has blown my mind. It is awesome on so many levels. You my good man, along with Denis are on the "Tinkerers Board".
Did you come up with that design? It has so many great design features that I can see.
The first being, it is such a simple & effective design.
Second, the drilling out of the holes on the handle make it aesthetic AND light weight for the gauge of material used.
Thirdly, it uses a "pulling"/"drawing to you" motion to scale, which would work best for the larger fish with those stubborn scales AND can still be used in a sideways motion equally because of the angled scaler face.
Fourthly, the angled "scaler face" helps to get those scaled scales out from under the scaler effectively by pushing them to the side.
Fifthly and most importantly , , , , it has that , , , , "I want one" look about it , , , , and boy do I want one.
You have done exceptionally well :a_goodjob:
I use a "bluntened" serrated knife for small fish, a scaler that I modified for the mid range fish , , , , BUT have struggled to find/make something for the large fish , , , , you have the answer, I am going to make one , , , , THANK YOU MR BERRY
Hey, Tack, I was thinking. Denis tinkers too , , , , what if we started a Tackle/Boating Accessories Company
See, I gave Denis and yourself top billing , , , , I know, what a generous guy I am
Cheers, Bug
