Another good bait for bream is live crabs. Very easy to keep them alive for weeks. Just a rectangular plastic tub with a small amount of saltwater in the bottom. Stick a rock in the middle so they can get out of the water. They eat almost anything from lettuce to ham to prawn to pilchard. Just remember to take the food out before it goes rancid and change the water every week or so
While sandworms will catch every species in the area you fish and you will definitely get more bights on the worms. If you are getting plagued by toadies and undersized fish, the live crab can help weed out the smaller fish. And if you are worried about fish not being able to smell your crab. Put 2 on. One live and gently crush the other ones head with pliers, so the juices run out, but its shell still stays strong around the hook.
