I have a 1969 9.5 Evinrude 9922s which has a Water Leak at the top of the motor. Motor runs fine and Idles OK as well - Pumps Water OK- Does not overheat.
My problem is that, with the Cowell removed, and the engine running at steady fast idle in neutral, I notice water on top of the Plate supporting the Pull Start Mechanism, and it runs down the black spiral piece that the start cord winds around.
Yep, I know that it is an oldie, but still runs OK except for this leak, so will not replace.
I cannot find the source of the water / leak - Any advice - TIA

Checked all 3 of the Thermostat bolts and they are tight. Also checked around Thermostat using a facial tissue - No evidence of moisture / Leak.

Re: 1969 9.5 Evinrude - Water Leak
Have you pulled the pull start off?
I would start there. Could be a poppet value, gasket, thermostat.
PS great run might be time to think about a new one.

Your motor might not have one but they are a pressure regulating valve.
