Fishfinder

Post by Karyl1 » Sat Jul 28, 2018 12:42 am

Hi everybody! I'm going to go to a new place (friends are somewhere in the area of Lake Wahpool). Experienced fishermen tell me that I can not do without a fishfinder and I need to buy it. Is it true? I never used it. Another friend gave this video on Youtube. In neighboring forums, an article was procured that I had more questions than answers. Prompt please me to be.

It does give you a edge over the fish.
Otherwise sometimes its just a stab in the dark.

Hi there and welcome.
A fish finder helps but I have caught plenty of fish without one :)

It’s worth the money, even a shitty cheap one can tell you a lot about the shape of the bottom which is handy when you want to find the edge of a channel

Thanks for the answers! Does it work on radio waves? Something like radar? I correctly understood that it fixes only a large concentration of fish? If I want to catch single fish then it will not be so effective?
The opinions were divided into two camps ... I'm at a loss

n operation, an electrical impulse from a transmitter is converted into a sound wave by an underwater transducer, called a hydrophone, and sent into the water. When the wave strikes something such as a fish, it is reflected back and displays size, composition, and shape of the object.

In other words if the beam hits 1 fish it shows as one fish.
If beam hits multiple fish it shows multiple fish.

Dwpwnding how its.set up it might not read fish flat on the bottom like gummy sharks for flathead etc but bait fish, salmon , kingfish ect that move up amd down the water colom will show up

Depends on the quality of the sounder and the installation. A shitty sounder might only show up large fish or large schools of small fish, while a good one will even give you an idea of the species in some situations, once you learn how to read it.
