ballooning baits

with the north winds tonight might balloon out some tuna heads in search of a gorilla how deep should the bait be.
where is the calamari ............. don't worry they coming ........ they will come

Sure, 3.95 is ideal, in fresh water if using pelican as bait, but for a good all round depth, it's 3.2 ;)

To give you a sensible answer.

If you are fishing for seven gill sharks, the bait should be on the bottom.

Some other shark species and I am no expert will take a ballooned bait. The depth of the bait is any one's guess. Try a metre or 2.
