Melb Boat Show vs 4x4 Fishing & Boating Expo
Anyone have an opinion on which is better for buying fishing gear (range & price)....The Melbourne Boat Show (June) or The 4x4, Fishing & Boating Expo (August) ?

They are both pretty **** for fishing gear. But if you wanted to see a lot of boats for ideas the bot show is a good trip.

Re: Melb Boat Show vs 4x4 Fishing & Boating Expo
The Melbourne Boat wasn't great for fishing gear last year, seemed to be a lot of imported rubbish or slow moving stock they were trying to dump.....some nice boats though. Wouldn't mind getting some 'show specials' on mid to high end gear & hopefully see some new innovations....might have to start up a Melbourne Fishing Expo (with free entry!)ducky wrote:They are both pretty sh*t for fishing gear. Can't help you with the boat show as I havnt been. But the 4x4, fishing and boating show didn't have that much good quality gear at a decent price. A lot of cheap Chinese gear trying to get flogged off. It was a few years ago when I went so no idea about these days.

Just wait for internet website sales, parking, entrance fees and time spent at shows make it not worth it, in my opinion.

I only been to 1 boat show about 10 years ago.
Great aray of boat if you have the money lol.
I ended up just buying some soft plastics and some matlin glasses for scotch.
The rods and reels werent that special conpared to what tackle shops do when on special

They all seem to try to clear the crap they can't get rid of or cheap stuff they buy in bulk to flip for an easy profit.

Here's the exhibitor List of both Shows. On quick inspection the 4 x 4 seems to have more fishing related exhibitors.
