Brighton breakwall update 11-9-2014

Post by nhillboy » Thu Sep 11, 2014 5:27 pm

Hi all, hope you all well and itching to get out for a fish like me.
Thought i would post this info for you to read. My fishing Buddy, cobber, digger mate George (Brighton Bomber) went for a look see at Brighton today. The breakwall is closed with a fence just after the Yacht club gates. George did see 2 blokes fishing at the end who must of jumped the fence. He rang parks Victoria who said a tender has been put out for repairs of the Breakwall. Anyone jumping the fence to fish would find themselves in trouble. The repair work is estimated to finish around March-April 2015 (fkn great)...Also carpark fee has risen to $5 an hour or $11.50 for 4 hours (again, f@&k*#g great)...
George also went for a look at the North rd. pier/ramp which are closed until further notice/repairs.
Looks like we need to find another landbased location to fish over this summer. I bet they will all be more crowed than normal (fkn great)
Cheers to you all, my fellow fishos...Some pics below..

Thanks for the info nhillboy but I'm not looking forward to the overcrowding of the piers

Oh this is absolute $h|te...2015!?
I've had to resort to going to Mordi pier the last two weeks to satisfy the itch and it's already doing my head in... Not even snapper time yet n it's beyond crowded with lines crossing over everywhere :|

Thanks for the update. Not great news on the time to fix it all up, but I guess it's not surprising. Hopefully, the winning tender will make a bucket load of cash... I mean do an excellent job using our tax money fixing it.

I guess determined fishermen will make their way onto the pier, regardless of the fence.

I'd highly recommend everyone pick up a copy of the AFN land based guide to Port Phillip, and also Western port. There are plenty of other good spots to fish, while 2015 sucks it's better than the situation at mornington over the past 5 years or however long it's been now.
