Went down to the breakwall today for a session with a mate. He was using bait, I was using lures. 5$ for whoever caught the most fish. He set up, and i moved up and down the breakwall without any bites. Just as we were about to go, I had a familiar triple tap on my lure. I struck, but missed. Almost two seconds later, my mate's rod, which was cast right next to my lure went off and in came a 30cm Salmon.
Was fun, but i am already missing the 5$. Salmon tacos are awesome though!
Lures/bait/ rigs used: 8lb braid, 15lb mono leader, 1/6th oz jig head, zman streakz 3.75 in shiner
20lb braid, no leader, 4oz ball sinker with paternoser rig and peeled prawns

At least you gave it a crack!
Better luck next time mate. From now on there should be plenty of those bay trouts around.
