General Fishing Advice for Brighton Pier?

Post by Shoddy_Fisherman » Thu Sep 28, 2017 10:57 pm

Hey all,

I'm looking for some advice to fish Brighton Pier, I've got a couple cheap rods that i can use on the pier (Cheap 8 foot graphite rod with fiberglass tip and 5500 sized reel spooled with 14lb mono, 6 foot graphite rod with fiberglass tip with 3500 reel spooled with 8lb mono and a toy 4 foot rod with a 2000 sized reel probably spooled with 4-6lb mono). Based on my gear I'd appreciate any tips on what to target, what bait/lures to use and/or rig setup. Since its the school holidays I've got another two weeks of fishing to look forward so I can try out different suggestions to see how they work for me.

Cheers

Now is the time for pinkies snapper and when its warmer the flathead will turn up.
The end of the breakwall has produced pinkies and flatties for me along with barracouta..

Caught plenty of species from that pier including kgw, flatties, salmon, squid, gars, pinkies/snapper and gummies. Like P5 said now is a good time to start targeting pinkies there. Good luck mate :)

Are there chances of picking some big proper snapper from the pier at this time or only pinkies?
