Thanks bud.
Yea was a weird night usually from my experience a fish that size gives up a better fight but not this one and the bite was so subtle! I think there were a few around that night that size or possibly bigger. Had a couple of similar bites with the entire pilly gone. But not complaining at the end of the day was a decent fish :)

Cheers mate. The rig I use is quite simple. A 3 way swivel. Twin snelled 4/0 gamagastu suicide hooks, a 3 oz sinker and 40 lb black magic leader :)

Cheers mate don't mind the black magic products, also use snelled 4/0 suicides but in a running sinker rig for westernport sinker size usually between 4 and 8 oz.

You are right. You were after the big reds, not pinkies. I will buy red undies this weekend. I hope it will bring me luck.

Nice catch Lightning
Hmmm the bite pattern does make me wonder?
I was Mosquito channel in WP on Sunday & apart from Couta, Tailor & flatties, kept getting lots of tapping & when I reeled in - Pillies gone. With the wind, tide & chop I'm thinking I may have had a red nibbling??? Oh well, I'll never know :-D
At least your scored a nice one though.

I'm yet to catch a rockcod north above corinella, literally as soon as I went to snapper rock or more south though I instantly catch them.

Have got a fair few nice rock ling in mosquito channel though. Excellent eating fish.
