Post by nick » Mon Aug 18, 2014 9:01 pm

fished black rock pier on sunday night for 7 squid caught between 4.30 and 6.15. wind was strong but was coming from the right direction

squid caught on harimitsu jig in red foil body

pier is not opened but you enter at own risk i guess. there were a few fishos there

fish the pier today for donuts water was a bit dirtier than on sunday and the wind and current werent as favorable, i hooked up on second cast by one tentacle and got cocky and dropped him as i was pulling him up. thats fishing

also went to brighton too today for nothing. there was fresh ink on the pier so there still some around.

break wall is still closed.

no size to them the biggest was probably about that 20 cm hood.

you have to go to flinders ,portsea, queencliff or point lonsdale if you want the big ones.

biggest one I have caught there was about 1 kg 35 cm hood. that was last year, the rest are average size 15 to 20 cm hoods.

If you want big squid too go to Stony Pt pier around the tide changes, very underrated spot.
