Hi Guys,
Just a quick report. Yesterday last minute the missus and I decided to go get a feed of whiting.
We arrived at our destination and got the burley going.
Took a little while before we got our first enquiry. Plenty of small bites but no hook ups. I had a feeling they were small kgw and I was right.
First one was only 26 cm so back in the drink it went. Had a few more which were just undersize till finally we got one worth keeping.
While she was busy checking the baits on the whiting rods I decided to cast around a jig and managed to catch a couple of squid. Also dropped a couple which were barely hooked, just pinned by 1 candle.
Was interesting watching a big squid come and try and eat 1 of the whitings as well while bringing it in. Dropped a jig next to it but didnt hook up.
We only spent a couple of hours on the water but was a fun day. She caught the biggest kgw which was just shy of 40 cm.
Cheers,
Lx.

Thanks dazz!
Was using paternoster rigs with size one circle hooks mate. Pippies doing all the damage.
Was using a flasher rig as well with the gold tinsel also with 1/0 circles. Both worked

Thanks for the report Lx. Been wanting to target the tings in that area but wasn't sure. You've now given me the confidence to give them a try. Hopefully the weather gods are kind in the next or two. Did you have to move around much?
