Fishing Report, last one before layup.

Post by ango » Fri May 30, 2014 8:03 pm

Hi Guys,
Managed to get time off work today so had the boat in the water at 8.30 am, started out off Parkdale for squid, got a couple, then to Ricketts Point, bagged out in one drift, couple were good size too, 30 cm hoods. Then moved back to Parkdale and anchored up to have a crack at the gars, only got a couple of small ones in about 90 mins, they were around but again, conditions were probably too good and they were very timid. Had lunch, then moved just north of Mordi Pier & trolled for salmon, action was non stop, kept three for berley when snapper season comes around. Now basically I stop fishing until September, when it comes around I will "hit the ground running" with frozen salmon for burley & frozen squid for bait, roll on snapper season!
Regards
Ango.

Nice report...

Your Snapper season should be starting now!! You don't have to sort through all the Penis Snapper to get a quality fish.

I don't even want to consider what this might be.

As in 1.5-3kg fish which are ravenous through season.

Generally at this time of year if you hook a Snapper it will be a minimum of 4kg.

I wonder how that snapper looks like.
