25th Jan - Yarra at Herring Island
Hit the Yarra at Herring Island last night - first half hour was dead and was about to give up and try somewhere else.....then chaos started. Two rods and I was flat out with bites and hook ups for a bit over an hour.
8 fish landed...unfortunately plenty lost...biggest was just over 35cm.

Nice one Chris. I've often tried the Yarra as the Mrs works closeby. But never had any luck flicking sp's. Maybe next time I'll bring some bait.
Was the water dirty yesterday?

Water looked reasonable last night - and tide was headed out fairly quick. Unfortunately as the tide fell the smell of wet mud was a little unpleasant but not much you can do about that. When I saw the tide was headed out I thought I had no chance but it didn't seem to worry the bream any.seephil wrote:Nice one Chris. I've often tried the Yarra as the Mrs works closeby. I keep saying I will take some SP's and HB's but I am doing so well with bait I just can't bring myself to take a chance at changing and not catching

Good work Chris, :nicefish: cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

what bait were you using if you don't mind me asking mate? and were you casting out or just dropping your bait down next to jetties/structure. i'm thinking about having a crack further downstream near the tennis centre tonight and usually just use banana prawns from woolworths but any bait tips are welcome ha
