Re: Nippers for Bream
I just usually keep them in an aerated bucket. Never been for more than a day though. Can't see why they wouldn't stay alive for longer than that though

Re: Nippers for Bream
Make sure you pick the dead ones out straight away, as they rot they taint the water and the others will soon join them.
You also need to change the water at least every day.
I've given up trying to keep them alive, I find it much easier to just pump fresh ones every time I go fishing. Much less hassle, and the freshly pumped nippers, still vigorously fighting, seem to attract a more aggressive bite.

Re: Nippers for Bream
Break off their large fighting claw before you put them in the bucket, this stops them fighting and killing each other. I have found they will stay alive at least over night in clean sea water as long as it is kept cold, do not leave them in the sun. If you can change the water every 6-12 hours that seems to cheer them up, I don't know if an aerator would help but it probably won't hurt to try. I have never tried to keep them longer than 24 hours so I can't say if they will last 3-4 days.

Re: Nippers for Bream
Dont think they will last that long alive mate.
Best bet is to pump them and go straight to the bream mecca

Re: Nippers for Bream
I usually take a heap to gippsland and they do last for 3 days,we usually runout of them before they all die.
Plastic lined foam esky about 8-10"high
About 1cm sand from where you pump them
Around 5cm sea water
Aerator running continously
Change water at least once a day
Remove dead ones regularly
Keep cool at all times and out of the sun
