APL EPs

Post by samjas1316 » Mon Dec 18, 2017 9:23 pm

My young fella had been itching to give APL a crack, with all the good reports floating around, so we decided to give tonight a go. We couldnt raise any yellas but ran into fellow forum member Basti who spotted a few but they were just not interested.

After a while my boy gave up on the yellas and started flicking his norries laydown out into the open and on his first cast he managed a liitle EP.

I was still flicking at structure and hoping for a yella when he landed another small EP. Two in two cast! I thought stuff the yellas I'm going for EPs now. I switched over to my hurricane switch and I managed a small EP as well. Then a few minutes later I connected on a really good fish. It certainly gave a good account for itself and as I was playing it my young fella also hooked up. Two nice EPs around the low 30s each. I managed to land another small EP and when it went quiet we decided to call it quits. No yellas for us but not a bad liilte session.

Well done father and son duo. I can only dream of such outings with my kids when they get older.
Cheers

Nice report mate.
It’s so close from my place and yet I have never given it a go. I’m thinking of going to check it out now

FYI dougie, there are multiple places to get a coffee around that lake. I'm never in danger of going without haha. Fishing trips are few and far between these days with full time work. If i'm fishing with Maz, i usually just let him handle the reporting.

I was waving a few flies around this day. Spotted around 7 yellas and got a look in from about four of those but no commitment. I did lose a quickly stripped woolly bugger to a small ep due to a dodgy knot but nothing else to report.

It’s great having a fishing buddy you can quickly organise something with. I’m working on my other son now who is 7 years old. He can cast a bit but he gets bored quickly unless the fish are really biting.

Highly recommend it Lx. I spoke to another fisho last night who has caught plenty of yellas there and was kind enough to give me some tips. He also spotted a few last night but he thinks they might have been a bit shut down. A big thanks also to fellow forum members on here who write up reports. It’s so handy having a native fishery close to home.

When you fished there, did you try other lures on the yellow belly?
