8lb leader is generally considered heavy for bream so that could be it, the other thing i've found with the nong is that it's the fish you can't see out a bit wider that will take your lure but you have to present it to them without spooking the ones in close. Sloth will be able to shed a bit more light on the subject if he sees the thread

Caught on a 1-3kg rod, 1003 reel(just bought today) spooled with .4pe braid and 4lb leader. I thought I snagged then headshakes, zzzzzzzzzzzzz thats it I know it's a good fish on the end of my line! took a while to land it. After a cuople of snaps,I did try to swim it back but It wont swim and bellied up, I dont keep fish this big coz I know they are breeders, but I have no choice but to keep it.

Cracking red Dennis, would have been a laugh on bream gear, you definitely do have a knack for pulling some solid fish from the local.

Haven't checked this site for a while so apologies Haygmbp for not contributing .... How are your nong sessions going?

I wasnt expecting to land it too, coz I only have 4lb leader on. But I was lucky I guess to land this fish!
