Nong 28/04/2018

Greetings,

Overdue to contribute something but I guess it helps when you’ve actually caught a fish. Put in a few sessions at the Nong recently for the sum total of one missed bite. Figuring it was just a matter of time decided to just keep persisting.

So to yesterday; while struggling to catch a single mullet a passing kayaker mentioned they saw a big fish caught earlier in the day, news that left me just a little flat. Thankfully by the grace of god managed to snag half a dozen nice livies in the last half hour of light.

About an hour after dark line steadily, but not particularly violently, poured of the reel. After ten seconds flicked to strike and was on. All the effort catching bait and boredom of waiting quickly goes out the window when connected to that first run.

After being safely landed and a some pics it was released, taking off with a few powerful kicks. About 95cm looks like I will have to keep fishing to crack the metre and beyond!

Cheers

Sensational fish, Deathray! You're one up on me - I've been out the last 2 nights for zero so far. I'm having trouble finding any schools of mullet, which may be part of the issue. Keep at it - I'm sure you will get that metre fish soon.

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated. While the brag factor is a big motivation to post a report there’s definitely also an element of wanting to share a breakthrough experience with fellow anglers.
