Winter metro bream (yarra)
Dropped wife for work and off I went to fish the yarra after lunch.
A mate caught a bream the other day on metal blade (ecogear zx40) just by tea bagging around structures, so I went and tried TT swtichblade 1/8.
2hrs fishing 1-3pm. Water was a bit dirty. 1-3kg rod, 2000 reel, 6lb braid line, about 2.5m leader of 4lb fluorocarbon. Nothing happened.
Changed to zman gulp 2in midnight oil on 1/16 #2 jighead and caught this 36cm beauty.
. .
All I did was cast the plastic hard against a bridge base, closed the bail arm, let it dropped to the bottom, keeping the line tight to constantly in contact with the plastic. It got to the bottom, tiny tap and it pulled the line slowly.
Stroke! Bzzzztt!!
Quick photos and back into the drink.

Good work mate, I found the going at Docklands a bit slow yesterday, 1 pinkie at 31cm and one small bream not worth measuring.

Re: Winter metro bream (yarra)
Thanks.
31cm pinkie is not bad. Usually they're all the undersized ones. What did you use?

Just bluebait on a circle hook, running sinker rig. Threw around some grubs as well working the pylons but no luck. Not much going on bait or lure-wise.

The fishing seems very quiet everywhere yesterday.
I went to gunnamatta and flinders yesterday, heaps of people, not a lot of fish. A mate went to Queenscliff for donut. Few posts in FB saying the same thing.
Oh well, we can only try.

I find it new moon is better than full moon for most species. Full moon is good for mulloway and sharks. From personal experience.
I suspected the fog more than the moon. Fog can indicate something about barometric pressure.
But who knows, lol.
