bloody fantastic! im a total newbie and am heading down there tonight for something to do...got any hints on tackle and bait cuz im goin clueless and just got some corn out of a bin and will use it on a whiting rig..!
this may also be a stupid question or matter of opinion but are this fish out of the nong closer to the mouth ie; footscray, ok to eat?

Gday i was using prawn ,frozen ones , 6 to 8 lbs outfit is good , all bream were over 28cm and returned without harm as i dont trust eating fish that live in the nong but pinkies dont so they have been digested and im not dead yet so theyre ok one pinke 28cm . 29ccm and the bigger one 39 cm what a fight he put up i was using a 6lbs outfit

Welcome to the forum mate,
Last year's recreational fishing guide mentioned somthing like 2 meals per week maximum consumption of fish from the Marby or close to the city. But i have just been through this year's guide and there doesn't seem to be any mention (or i missed it).
Personally i don't eat fish from close to the city due to my concerns about polution, but i do know other people certainly do eat catches from the same places i fish.
So i guess it's up to you. Unless of course someone else on here has info they might want to share that would indicate otherwise.
I know this isn't a definitive answer, but i hope my "2 bob's worth" helps you form your own opinion.
