Cracking Bream at Edgewater.

Post by mychajlyshyn123 » Wed Oct 09, 2013 7:27 pm

Hi fellow fish-o's,

This is my first post on here! Couldn't wait to share my experience with ya'll.

Well...went down to wet a line at Edgewater-Maribyrnong with my gal, got there around 3pm, 2 hours before the high tide and after settling into our spot we set up the rods and took our first cast's.After sitting in the warm wind waiting for a bite for about 30 mins, as our chances of catching a fish seemed a little slim. All of the sudden, BAMMM! She was on!!! Followed by my rod, seconds after! 2 Great size bream around 23-25cm followed by another 3 larger ones soon after that which were around the 27-35cm mark. All up 5 great fish between us, released to fight another day! (May I add, we bet on who would catch the first fish....she won! Massage for her tonight!!!)

Great day out!

Thanks ★

(Pics to come after I resize them)

Thanks mate! And yeah the massage will be a great end to an awesome day of fishing. Bet or no bet my woman deserves a massage for the effort she made catching her first bream! Certainly the biggest bream my eyes have seen at this spot!

Sounds like you and your lady went catching rather than fishing. Very nice work! Looking forward to seeing your pics and welcome to the site.

Thanks Steve. Yeah its been years since the nong has produced bream like this! Absolutely stoked. Great start to what seems to be a great spring/summer fishing season! Next on the agenda is some ppb snapper!

Thanks! Peeled prawns has worked best for me on a 1/4oz running sinker rig and light gear, as for the live worms I'm not too sure but some say they work a treat! I think you can buy them from the tackle shop in newport. Hope that helps you land a few nice ones morpheusman.

Did you try anywhere else, other than off the pontoons?

It's my closest lake and I've only just started fishing there - I've been up the other end mainly (more scenic -lol) but with recent posts starting to think the bream mainly hold down the other end. Have seen fish rising at the north end and seen small non-resident bream caught close to the shore but not seeing the numbers caught in a session that people pull from the pontoon.

Cheers!
