What sort of trace are you using ?
How think is your trace line ?
What baits have you been using ?
Have you tried lures ?

the list can go on but that will at least others a starting point ;-)

Barnsieboy I don't use trace just a leader and the hook I use is a Gamakatsu 221
Circle Fishing Hook
Sizes 2/0 - 8/0 metal hooks are good haha
yes I have tried lures and baits { pillies & squid,chicken well 5:30am time to hit the water :super:

Unless you're fishing after dark targetting gummies or snapper, I reckon you really need to bring those hook sizes down a bit mate. Different species have different sized mouths, they also have a slightly different diet to each other. My advice would be to do some research into what species inhabit the area, then to target those species. Bait quality is also an important factor. I like the ol' saying...."if you won't eat it, why should they?"
As the water temps pick up, you should start seeing better numbers of flathead, kg whiting, mullet, (to name a few) in the area. The "bread & butter" species some might say. Dawn, dusk, and tide changes, are better bite times.
Keep persisting mate. Things will only get better.

Where you fishing from? If its straight off the beach its going to be shallow as, before it drops off

Wade out on a falling tide as far as you can before it drops off and cast SPs for flatties

Good place to slide a kayak in.
