Werribee South Boat ramp - FREE

Post by Texas » Mon Jul 09, 2018 12:45 pm

Just returned from Werribee South (not fishing)
The 2 ticket machines have been removed
Council has apologised for the inconvenience
I couldn't find any new machines or way to pay

Only about 8 boats out, plus a police boat that came from up river
You can now hire a kayak there too
Cheers Gra

You may find that W'bee may go down the same line with online ticketing.
I can't believe that the measly cost of CCTV ( In the bigger picture) can solve a whole lot of issues like vandalised ticket machines and added security for ramp users but have not been implemented.

By their web site.
Updates to ramp paying facilities are due to be completed for 2018/19 summer.
Payment will be made via phone/wifi/Online via PC or with Council prior to using facilities.
Parking or use is not being enforced till system completed.

Here's something interesting. Why don't council not charge anything for the ramp for 12 months ( a first for PPB boat users for 20+ years), then survey obvious business's and other positive impacts that boat fisherman bring to the area...... then see if they want to risk loosing these benefits to the community by charging fees again.

I'd like Parks Victoria (State Government) to manage all ramps & car parks as opposed to local councils.
If you had an optional annual levy (that allowed you to park your trailer at any ramp) when paying trailer rego each year, it would be a very economical way to collect fees (and perhaps the savings could be passed on to the end users).

St Helens in Geelong is $5 and that goes towards the coast guard which is reasonable. Or do like Nude Up suggested go down bellarine more better fishing grounds there anyway.
