Altona 22-09-18

Post by Sinsemilla » Mon Sep 24, 2018 12:08 am

Headed out from Altona to show my mate around in the salt. He usually fishes for natives in the lakes and rivers and wants to get into a bit of saltwater fishing with his boat.

Saturday had a nice weather window before the game started so we headed out for a quick flick until around 1pm.

Got on the water by about 8.30 and just cruised around towards the channel. We didn't mark anything up but bait and possibly salmon so we set up a drift a couple hundred meters behind a few boats that were bait fishing and burleying for snapper. Flicking 3inch to 5inch paddle tails and jerk shads we got a few flatties for a feed.

After a while we went in close around williamstown and did the same thing for not much at all.

On a way back to the ramp i stopped over some broken ground and did a few drifts and got a nice bag of squid before the wind came from the south and it was time head in to be back for the footy.

Just a side note, The cops were out checking everyones safety gear. Make sure you got all your safety equipment in order especially your flares and life jackets.

Cheers, Anth
